Turning Goals into Results....

The Weders

Just like a river, our lives have had all sorts of twists and turns and its always on the move... Erika and I met Christmas Day 1999 in a small village in Guatemala. It was the start of one adventure after another... Our roots both take us back to Switzerland. I immigrated to Canada when I was 4 and Erika came over in 2001. We both grew up on dairy farms but knew we had enough of milking cows. In 2003 we moved to the Peace Country and started "Spirit View Ranch" near Rycroft, Alberta.

Over the years the crazy Weder clan expanded... Our oldest son Pasco was born in 2004, followed by Nero in 2005, Oro in 2008 and Luna "the Girl" in 2010. We love our circus and there is never a dull moment with our crew.

At Spirit View Ranch we created a wildlife paradise alongside our successful ranching business... In 2012 we were awarded the Alberta Beef Producers Environmental Stewardship Award and then later won the National award from the Canadian Cattlemen s Association. It is something we are very proud of and you can see the video link below.

In 2013 we started a new chapter and moved further West to a new ranch close to Hudson's Hope, British Columbia. Venator Ranches Ltd was born... translated meaning "Gladiator" as there is always something we are fighting for. Now we live at the edge of Agriculture or the beginning of the wilderness.... it depends on a persons perspective. The headwaters of the Peace River are west of the ranch and it eels like we followed the River to its source.

We were fascinated by the Region for years and it is a dream come true, to live here! To some Hudson's Hope may seem remote...but not for us. Surrounded by nature, boundless wildlife and a great community there never seems to be enough hours in a day to do it all! Venator Ranches Ltd. today is home to 1300 Purebred and Commercial Angus beef cows plus 250 Bison cows...most importantly alongside all sorts of natures creations.
